BVSc (Hons) MACVSc (Veterinary Dentistry)
Hi, I’m Dr Aaron Forsayeth, and I’ve had quite the journey in veterinary medicine. Originally, I never imagined myself pursuing dentistry.
I spent my initial years in general practice until a chance meeting with Dr Gary Wilson changed my career path.
He inspired me to explore veterinary dentistry, and together, we co-founded Advanced Animal Dentistry in 2006. It’s ironic, considering I used to dread dental procedures, but with the right knowledge and skills, it became a passion that I absolutely love to this day.
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the almost immediate positive results from fast, impactful treatments. It’s incredibly satisfying to have a patient come in unwell in the morning and send them home healthier by the afternoon.
A particularly memorable case for me involved a young Border Collie with a genetic disorder that left her teeth malformed and without protective enamel. This poor pup was in constant pain and reluctant to engage with her family. After multiple extractions and custom-made metal crowns, she transformed into a playful, happy dog, finally able to enjoy life pain-free. It’s moments like these that truly highlight the importance and impact of our work.
Even though we work in pet dentistry, we still offer a holistic patient care approach. While our focus is on the mouth and teeth, we never lose sight of the fact that they are part of a larger system – the whole animal.
Dental health is crucial to overall wellbeing, and we aim to leave every pet’s mouth as healthy and comfortable as possible.
When I’m not at the clinic, I enjoy gaming, with World of Warcraft being a favourite. I also love building Lego, drawing, travel, playing the guitar and listening to music. In addition to our two beautiful daughters, our family includes two lively Sphynx cats named Rudi and Polly.
They are funny, active little characters who adore cuddles and are best buddies with their human siblings. What I love most about working with pets and their owners is witnessing the deep bonds between them. Pets truly become family, and it’s a privilege to assist both owners and their furry companions.
The highlight of my day is seeing the happy reunion when pets are discharged. If you’re wondering what the most unusual animal I’ve ever worked with is, it would be a Black Rhino that needed extractions due to advanced periodontal disease. Let’s just say that was a unique and unforgettable experience.
If I could be an animal for a day, I’d choose to be an eagle. The ability to soar and survey the world from above is incredibly appealing. In my veterinary dentistry practice, I strive to maintain a similar broad perspective, ensuring pets receive comprehensive care to live their healthiest, happiest lives.
