Removing complex teeth safely and with minimal impact.
Nicola, Operations Co-ordinator
Cert IV Nursing
Hi, I’m Nicola, and my career in veterinary nursing began somewhat by chance.
I’ve always had some sort of desire to work with animals, but at first, I wasn’t sure exactly what that would look like. I was actually working in hospitality when I saw an opportunity to study veterinary nursing and decided to take the leap. That led me to start work experience at Aspley Veterinary Clinic.
What was meant to be a placement became something much bigger. A rewarding career. And I loved the team, the environment and the chance to learn something new every day.
Eventually, I progressed into practice management and held that role for eight years. While I enjoyed many aspects of nursing, I discovered a real passion for organisation, leadership and client care. I loved helping the clinic run smoothly, supporting the team and making sure every pet owner felt looked after during what can often be a very stressful time.
“Keeping things organised and running smoothly can completely change the experience for patients, clients and the veterinary team.”
My connection with Advanced Animal Dentistry actually began long before I joined the team, and it’s what makes this opportunity to bring my skills here even more exciting. While in general practice, I worked closely with AAD as a referring clinic and always admired the professionalism, expertise and support they provided.
Whether it was helping with a difficult dental case or talking our vets through a challenging procedure, the team was always approachable, knowledgeable and willing to help. You could tell they genuinely cared about getting the best outcome for every patient, and the feedback from clients spoke for itself. It left a huge impression on me.
Outside of work, I happily share my home with four much-loved rescue dogs, each with their own story. There’s a Whippet who came into the clinic as a stray after being hit by a car. A senior Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is thankfully still with me, despite living on a little borrowed time. A tiny Mini Fox Terrier with a big personality. And a cheeky Greyhound who keeps everyone entertained. Life is loud but full.
