Parsnip

Patient Information

Name: Parsnip
Age: 10 months old
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Gender: Male, Neutered

Presenting Problem

Parsnip was diagnosed with juvenile periodontitis and hyperplastic gingivitis, a painful condition causing severe overgrowth and inflammation of the gums. Due to the extent of his disease, it was evident that intervention was necessary to alleviate his discomfort and prevent further oral health complications.

Diagnostics and Treatment

Dental radiographs confirmed the need for a caudal mouth clearance, extracting all teeth behind the canines to resolve severe gingival inflammation. Due to the advanced disease and Parsnip’s young age, prompt action was essential. His recovery and ongoing care were closely monitored in collaboration with his veterinarian owner.

Outcome

Parsnip responded exceptionally well to the treatment and could eat comfortably the same night after surgery. Within a few weeks, his mouth had healed, and the inflammation resolved completely. His owner continues to provide daily periodontal care for the remaining teeth to prevent future issues and maintain his oral health.

Client Comments

“I was so happy with the care Parsnip received at Advanced Animal Dentistry.”

“Even though it was a big procedure, I knew he was in good hands.”

“He recovered incredibly quickly and was happily eating his dinner that same night.”

“He’s so much more comfortable now, and it’s a joy to see him back to his playful self, enjoying time with his feline siblings and snoozing peacefully.”

Veterinary Comments

“This was one of the most prolific cases of juvenile periodontitis and hyperplastic gingivitis I have ever seen.”

“Given how advanced the condition was at such a young age, an immediate caudal mouth clearance was the best option, as the disease was not going to resolve on its own.”

“Parsnip’s recovery has been excellent, and it’s great to see him thriving with his ongoing care.”
